Spelling Bee Finalists

Bell-Herron Middle School recently held its annual Spelling Bee. The top winners in each grade are pictured.

6th grade (to the left of the sign) Emily Kendle, Rachael Dowell, Cassidy Bajornas, Rebecca Rosenberger, Shelbee Stidom.

7th grade (Kneeling) Kaitlyn Shine, Miranda Lohman, Adam Bryan, Alex Mitchell, Chaz Dayton.

8th grade (to the right of the sign) Kady Davis, Cody Stevens, Autumn Keller, Cree Ward.

The overall winner of the Spelling Bee is Bryce Wielechowski- 8th grade (kneeling in front). Bryce will represent Bell-Herron Middle School on Saturday, March 3, 2012, 1:30 pm at the 66th Regional Grand Final Spelling Bee sponsored by The Repository at GlenOak High School.

 

Free Parent Workshop
Does Your Child Have Challenging Behaviors?
Let's Make a Plan!

The SST will be providing a free workshop to help families learn how to understand behavior. They will talk about how to work with your child's school, develop a proactive behavior plan, and talk about examples. The workshop will take place Tuesday, March 20th with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. at the SST 12 Professional Development Center.

From Warrior to Falcon, Cogan is Bowling Green Bound!

Congratulations to Kelsey Cogan who will be continuing her running career at Bowling Green State University. She has officially committed today, February 6, 2012 and will be joining the indoor/outdoor track and cross country teams. GO FALCONS!

 

Hoops for Hope

On February 17, Carrollton HS will host our 1st Hoops for Hope, breast cancer awareness basketball game. The event will be held in Memory of Shelli DeSimone, who lost her battle against the disease last year. Her son, Drew, neice, Taylor Burchfield, along with many family and friends, will have a team in the local Relay for Life fundraiser and funds generated from the basketball game will go to their team.

“Hoops for Hope” t-shirts will be available at McCorts and orders can be made at the Athletic office. Shirts will be $13.00 each, 2x or larger will be $15.00.This is the design, on a pink shirt. “H” will be this hot pink, the other letters will be white.

Anyone wearing a t-shirt will be admitted free to the game. Baskets of goodies will be raffled off. The evening's 50/50 drawing will be donated. The basketball Moms will donate the half court shot money received that evening and the FFA chapter will also donate the money from popcorn sold.

The FFA will be constructing a "Box City" on Friday, Feb.17th. There, students will be living and sleeping in cardboard boxes to raise awareness for homelessness and poverty. The money students raise through pledge sheets will be donated to Loaves and Fishes.

 

In addition to the FFA, the Caring Helping Sharing Club will be working to raise awareness also. From Jan. 20th through Feb.10th they will be sponsoring a blanket, hat, mitten, and scarf drive at the high school. The competition will be between 7th period classes, with the winning class recieving a pizza party courtesy of CHS Club. ALL DONATIONS MUST BE NEW.

 

Anyone who would like further information, would like to sponsor Box City, or would like to contribute to the hat and blanket drive, can contact Kelli Pridemore or Belinda Mach at the high school.

 

Kindergarten registration will be held March 6th, 7th, and 8th at the Carroll County Library. Parents or guardians must come in to receive their kindergarten packets and to make an appointment for the actual screening. They must have their certified birth certificate, social security card, immunization record, custody papers, emergency contact phone numbers, doctor's phone numbers, and proof of residency when they come to register. If they do not have all of the paperwork, no appointment will be made for the screening.
Carrollton Exempted Village Schools will be conducting a preschool screening on March 16th by appointment only. Our preschools offer classes for typical children, as well as those children with delays in language, speech, motor skills, and/or social skills. The cost per month is based on your family's income. Children must attend a preschool screening before entrance to preschool. If you are interested, please contact Special Services at 330-627-8067 to set up a screening appointment.

 

Meister and Knotts Reign Over Homecoming

Congratulations to Sam Meister and Ben Knotts who were crowned Queen and King at Saturday's homecoming dance.

The court will be introduced on Tuesday, January 24, at 7:00 p.m. during the West Branch basketball game in the C.H.S. gym.
