Notice of Special Board Meeting of the Carrollton Exempted Village School District Board of Education

The President of the Carrollton Exempted Village School District has called a Special Meeting of the Board of Education for Thursday, June 21, 2018, at 7:30 A.M., in the CEVSD Board Office, 207 Scio Road SW, Carrollton.

The reason for the Special Meeting is to accept bids and authorize the issuance of contracts for the field house.

Congratulations to Alivia Bentley who won the state shot put!  Her final throw of 45'11.25" vaulted her from third place to first!  She was also the runner-up in the discus with a throw of 137'7"  

Teaching Tuesdays

Come get FREE basketball guidance from the staff and players in the Carrollton Basketball program.

Any K-8th grade student, boy or girl, is invited to come and learn some of the fundamentals and engage with current players on the team in drill work and scrimmage play.  It is a free event on each Tuesday in June at 3pm.  It is an hour that Coach Aukerman and his staff would love to pack the gym with the next generation of Carrollton Hoopsters.

Please bring your own ball, if you have one, for individual skill work.  We will also provide some.  The gym will be sectioned off into age groups, and each group will have personalized help from current players and staff.

The Power Center is having a flower sale for the elementary school kids (just in time for Mother's Day). On Wednesday, May 9th, kindergarten, 4th and 5th grade students will go  to the "Secret Garden Shop" in the cafeteria. On May 10th, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders will be down. CHS Art Fairs well at Art Contest!

The CHS Art Department is pleased to announce that this years "first" judging for the Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition has yielded 17 winning pieces of artwork. Our student's artwork was judged amount 11,000 pieces; only 300 works were selected to be exhibited in the 2018 Youth Art Exhibition. 

Our region includes 15 school districts, and out of the our students, here is who are regional winners for their artwork: 

Emilee Carlton, Lacey Deem, Diana Gomez, Emily Kean, Erica McCauley, Teryn Rager, Macey Stevens, Emma Zbuka, Cecelia Corbin, and Chyanne Grimm. 

These students were selected, then as regional winners, their artwork was then sent to Columbus where it undergoes a second judging. The artwork that didn't make the second judging cuts will display at the Tuscarawas Art Center and the Carroll County Art Center. 

Out of the 10 regional winners, two had their artwork selected at state: Teryn Rager and Emma Zbuka. Their artwork will be displayed in Columbus from April 1 until May 18.

Letter from Superintendent Quattrochi

Recent events in surrounding communities and across the U.S. are weighing heavy on all of our hearts and minds. We have been working with the Carroll County Sheriffs Department to do everything we can to provide a safe environment for our students and staff members. We will continue to work together in developing safety protocols as well as addressing the mental health issues and identifying children in crisis.  (download letter)

Track Fundraiser

This year, the track team will be doing two clothing fundraisers - one online and the other through Embroidme. The online store is through Squadlocker (click here) and functions like an Amazon store. You buy online, and the items are shipped to you door. The team will receive 15% of the order. The Embroidme fundraiser form is show here below. This will have a new logo for the front, and the updated school records will be printed on the back. Order forms will be starting on Monday, March 5th, and the deadline to order will be Wednesday, March 14th. For more information, please see a track member or Mr. Aukerman.

Spring Musical Big Fish

Carrollton High School's 2018 Spring Musical will be a new broadway musical: "Big Fish." They will present March 15th through the 17th at 7:00 P.M. in the Bell-Herron Middle School Auditorium. Tickets are $5.00 a piece. 

Indoor Track

Congratulations to the Girls' Indoor Track Team. Over the weekend, they placed 11th in the state at the Division 1 level at the Indoor State Meet. Junior Micah Donley finished 8th overall and earned another All Ohio Honor Award in the 400. Sophomore Alivia Bentley finished 10th overall, and her older sister, Alivia is State Runner Up in weight and shot. 

Michelle Robert’s Fundraiser

Katie Chappell is selling t-shirts to raise money for a local teacher and mother fighting cancer. They are $12.00 a t-shirt, 2X and up is available at extra charges. 2018 Winter Homecoming Winter Homecoming

This year’s Winter Homecoming, “The Perfect Night,” will be held in the Carrollton High School gym from 8:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 27th. Tickets are now being sold, from Wednesday to Friday, in the lobby before homeroom and in the cafeteria during lunch and advisory (5th and 6th) for $5.00 (single)/$10.00 (couple). Tickets will be raised to $10.00/$20.00 at the door.


Military Appreciation Night - Friday Away Basketball Game Military appreciation night Jan 19

 *AWAY* Boys Basketball Game Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 - 7:30 p.m 

Carrollton HS and Louisville HS are participating in the OHSAA statewide military appreciation night on January 19, honoring active and veteran United States Armed Forces. All active and veteran military members will be admitted free to the Jan. 19 boys basketball game, and recognized throughout the evening.  

CHS Hosts Retirees Retirees

The high school hosted a Christmas luncheon for current staff and retirees on December 21st.  Almost 30 retired teachers attended and enjoyed reminiscing with current staff and students.

Scholarship Opportunities

The Carroll Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio Scholarship Application is now available in the Guidance Office. The application is due March 1st.

Carroll Electric is pleased to offer high school sophomores and Juniors the opportunity to win an all expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. Applications for the Rural Electric Youth Tour are now available in the Guidance Office. The deadline to enter is February 1st.

Carrollton Student’s Taking a STAND

A grant has been given from the Ohio Department of Health focusing on preventing youth initiation of tobacco use. This grant consists of creating a STAND (Students Taking A New Direction) group of students who will participate in a variety of anti-tobacco activities within the Carroll County community. For additional information, contact Caitlin Matthews at the Carroll County General Health District. The next STAND meeting will be on December 6th.

Congratulations to Senior Christian Barto for signing to Ave Maria, in Florida, for golf on Thursday, November 30th.

Indoor Marching Band Concert Band Concert

The Indoor Marching Band Concert will be held on Tuesday, October 31st at 7:00 P.M. in the CHS Gymnasium. The band will be featuring music by Ke$ha, The Beatles, Queen, Bruno Mars, and more!

2nd Annual Reading Under the Lights Was a HUGE Success!

Carrollton Schools would like to thank all of the families that came out to the second annual Reading Under the Lights on October 12th.  Approximately 400 students received a free book that evening!

The CHS Volleyball team are have their annual Volley for a Cure fundraiser tonight at 5:00 P.M. in the High School Gym. There will be a bake sale and raffle baskets. Don’t forget to wear your pink!

Stop by the 10th annual Tailgate to Touchdowns, starting tomorrow at 5:30 at Community Field! For only $2 you get food, fun and a great pre-game experience. The POWER Center will also be selling mums, so stop on out! Thank you to the Carroll County Farm Bureau for helping to make this all possible!

Girls STEM Day! Girls STEM

Carrollton Schools is pairing with IST and REC Foundation in honor of United Nations International Day of the Girl. This will offer a Girls STEM Day on, October 7, 017. This is designed to spark the interest of the girl in considering a career in science technology, engineering and math. It will provide engaging activities, and also give them the the opportunity to listen and interact with the role models in these fields today. Our guest speaker is Heidi Cressman, from the University of Akron and is the director of the Women in Engineering Program. The girls will experience hands-on workshops such as VEX Robotics, Girls Who Code, Girl Scouts STEM Activities, and MIT App Inventor. For more details   

Second Annual Reading Under the Lights 2017 Reading under the Lights

On Thursday, October 12th, there will be another “RIF- A Night Under the Lights” from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Community Field. This is a second annual, fun, family reading and learning event sponsored by the Carrollton Exempted Village School District. The evening will feature a free book for all students, family reading time, fun and free learning themed stations, raffle baskets, special guest reader, and food and drinks will be available to purchase.

The school district will be releasing two hours early on Friday, January 12th due to unexpected weather conditions.  The high school will release at 12:00 P.M. and the Elementary schools will release at 1:00 P.M. Please be careful this weekend.

Middle School Robotics Team Robotics

Congratulations to two of our middle school Robotic's Team for qualifying the World's Robotic's Championships over the weekend!

Our three middle school teams placed first, second, and third in the event overall. 

*Team 11353C (Austin Lozier and Eli Folk) - 1st place in the Teamwork Challenge // qualified them to compete at the VEX World's event with teams from all over the world

High School on Lockdown this Morning - All Clear

(Below is the text of the all-call message)

This superintendent Dave Quattrochi…Students on the main campus were put on an instructional lockdown this morning due to a very vague threat on social media made against CHS. This threat originated in New Mexico and was made against all schools in the nation that included the initials CHS. The threat was actually geared toward Clovis High School in New Mexico. Our students’ safety was never in jeopardy, but I wanted to take extra precautions and work collaboratively with local law enforcement agencies before lifting the instructional lockdown. The staff and local law enforcement agencies did a great job of responding and investigating the situation. Thank you and Go Warriors!

News and Notes Regarding 2018 Prom Watch Promenade Live

The Prom will be held in the Bell-Herron Gymnasium this year. Promenade will be from 5:30P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and the school street will shutdown at 5:15 P.M. The student parking lot across from the high school will be closed to the public and used only for Prom student parking.
The public is welcome to view Prom decorations in the gym until 5:30 P.M. Parents of the court are welcome in to Prom for crowning at 7:15 P.M. Parents must leave before dinner is served at 7:30 P.M. Also, students attending Prom should know that once they leave Bell-Herron Gymnasium that they will not be readmitted to the Prom.

Congratulations Mrs. Belinda Mach Teacher of the Year Mrs. Mach

Mrs. Belinda Mach was awarded Teacher of the Year by the Stark County Educational Service
Center April 23, at the R. G. Drage Joint Vocational Center. Mrs. Mach has taught for a total of
22 years and for the last 19 years she has taught French at CHS. She is also the advisor for
Caring Helping Sharing Club (CHS Club) and People Leading America’s Youth Group (PLAY
Group). She was nominated for this award by a district nomination committee.

Project Lead The Way Showcase PLTW Showcase

Student from the elementary, middle and high school PLTW classes will be hosting a showcase on Wednesday, from 6:00 - 7:30 at the High School Gym.  Students will have projects on display.

2018 Graduation News

Graduation for the senior class of 2018 will be Friday, May 25 at 7:00 P.M. Graduates will be expected to be there and ready by 6:00 P.M. It will be held in the Bell-Herron Gym and doors will open at 5:30 P.M. In order to attend, the public attendees must have an invitation ticket from a graduating student. Each graduate will receive six admission tickets, but if more are needed, contact the high school office at 330-627-2134.

Financial Aid for Future College Students Financial Aid Night

Attention Seniors who are planning to go to college next year:

Carrollton High School will host a College Financial Aid Night on Thursday, September 28th from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the cafeteria. Jason Maurer from Kent State Tuscarawas will be providing very valuable assistance on how to complete the FAFSA Application. This application must be filled out every year by students who are enrolling or are enrolled in traditional college. The FAFSA Application opens on October 1st.

Tailgate For The T's! T's Flower

Carrollton High School Student Council will be selling raffle tickets to raise money for the families of Tzak Rainsburg and Tyler Bradley at the home football games on October 13 and October 20. They are two Carrollton High School students who were involved in severe car accidents over the summer. A Pottsy Flower donated by Built By Pottsy LLC and gift baskets will be raffled. Tickets can be purchased at the football games starting at 5:30 pm or in the high school office during the school day. Tickets will be $1 for one or six for $5.  


The Wax Museum is Here Wax Museum

You’re invited to Carrollton Elementary’s very own Living Wax Museum presented by the fifth grade students. These students will be hosting a biographical interactive wax museum honoring influential people from the past and present. This event will be held on Friday, November 17th from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in the High School Gym.

Elementary VEX IQ Robotics Team Places in First Competition Robotics

On Saturday, November 18th, the fourth through seventh grade VEX IQ Robotics Team attended their first competition at North Union High School. There were 65 teams from 14 schools that attended and competed at the event. Our Carrollton students won five out of the nine awards offered. Here are the results:

Sports Schedule Changes

There are several cancellations and changes due to the winter storm this weekend.  Here are a few:

Bowling teams will not be attending the Muskingum tournament in Zanesville on Saturday.

Wrestlers will not be attending the West Holmes JV tournament and the Wadsworth Middle School tournament is cancelled on Saturday.

Middle School basketball games vs. West Branch on Saturday morning have been cancelled and moved to Saturday January 27th at 9a.m.

Girls Basketball game for Saturday at Louisville has been cancelled and re-scheduled for January 22nd.

Boys Basketball game vs. Salem has been cancelled for Friday night.  It has been re-scheduled for February 13th.

Instructional Open House - “Meet the Teachers” Open House

On Monday, August 28th, the high school will hold an Instructional Open House for all parents. Beginning at 5:30 P.M., parents will report to the gymnasium for an overview of the evening. Following the meeting in the gym, parents will follow their child’s school schedule and attend 10-minute ‘classes’ led by their child’s teachers. During the ‘class,’ the teacher will discuss their expectations, grading procedures, homework policy, methods of communication (collecting phone numbers/email addresses), and answer any questions parents may have. The final bell will ring at 7:30 P.M., ending the open house. It is the school staff’s desire to have a large turnout so they can open the year with excellent parent communication.

CHS Golfer Qualifies for State Christian Barto

Senior Christian Barto qualified for the State Golf Tournament on October 2nd at Eagle Sticks Golf Course with a 74. He was the Medalist. Barto is the first Carrollton golfer to ever make it to state.


CHS Senior Math Whizzes Compete at Stark State Math

On Saturday, November 4th, Seniors Rachel Bright, Noah Carrothers, Angela Starre, Emmett Davis, Taylor Fair, and Emily Brown attended a high level math competition at Stark State College. It was a six hour day, from 8:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., consisting of registration, an hour of individual testing, a break, then an hour of group testing. The students also attended a lecture: “Strategies for Solving Rubik’s Cube in Fewer Moves,” by Dr. Morley Davidson, a professor at Kent State University. There were 108 participants from 11 different schools in Stark and Carroll county. Awards were given to the top ten individual scorers and the top five group scores.

The CHS Wrestling Team will be hosting this annual Steak Fry on Saturday, November 18th from 4:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. It will be held at the Carrollton Vets Club. Hat and Gloves Drive Hats and Gloves

Here in Carrollton, a program called Harcatus of Carroll County provides heat assistance, as well as blankets and clothing to those in need. With the frosty temperatures, hats and gloves are going out to people everywhere extremely fast. In order to help the community, and those in need around us, CHS has decided to make this week's "Clash of the Classes" a competition to see which class can bring in the most hats and gloves to your homeroom teachers.

Students Excel at Solo & Ensemble Solo & Ensemble

On Saturday January 20th, eleven students from Carrollton High School participated in twelve events at the Ohio Music Education Association District 8 Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Massillon-Washington High School. Carrollton earned eight Superior Ratings and four Excellent Ratings in a variety of categories.

Superior soloists include Bethany Leggett and Rebecca Stoneman, piano;  Olan Domer and Elijah Lutton, snare drum; Abby Shockey soprano; Robert Husted tenor; Emmett Davis bass; and Olan Domer baritone. 

Excellent soloists include Jocelyn Sellers trumpet; Devin Tipton snare drum; Olivia Kienzle alto; and Sarah Wilsford mezzo-soprano.

Student Art on Display at Capitol

The Carrollton High School Art Department is pleased to announce that this year’s regional judging for the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition yielded 17 winning pieces of artwork from 10 students. Rhodes State Office Tower, across from the State Capitol, from April through May. Student artwork not qualifying for the Governor’s Exhibition is currently on display at the Tuscarawas and Carroll County Art Centers. 

Carrollton Elementary Staff vs. Steelers Basketball Game

The Carrollton Elementary PTO is sponsoring "Make The Right Call" Pittsburgh Steelers Footballers vs. Carrollton Elementary Staff basketball game.  The game will be held in the high school gym on April 27th at 8p.m.  The doors will open at 7:15p.m.  Admission is $7 per person for ages 3 and up.  Limited tickets are available at the door so it is suggested you sign up quickly using the link below.

CHS Wrestling Golf Scramble Wrestling Golf Scramble

Swing on in to Carroll Meadows Golf Course Saturday, May 19, for Carrollton Wrestling’s annual Golf Scramble. All proceeds from this event will help send the CHS wrestling team to wrestling camp over the summer. To participate in the scramble there will be a $50 individual fee and a $200 team of four fee. The entry fee includes 18 holes and a golf cart. Shotgun starts at 1:00 p.m. and there are prizes for being closest to the pin, the longest drive, and a special cash prize for first place!   1. Prior to entry to 7th grade, all students are required to have the Tdap and meningococcal immunization documentation on file with the school.
  2. Prior to 12th grade, a 2nd dose of Meningococcal vaccine is required. If the first dose was administered on or after the 16th birthday a second dose is not required.
  3. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to fax, email or mail your student’s record.


  1. All students must have an immunization record on file by the 14th day of entry into school. They must have:

4-5 doses of the Dtap,

3-4 doses of Polio,

2 MMR’s,

2 Varicella

3 dose series of the Hepatitis B

Medication at school

  1. Any prescription medication that must be administered during the school day will require a form be completed by the prescribing doctor.
  2. All of our forms are on the school’s website under district forms.
  3. These forms must be updated yearly
  4. The medication must come in the prescription bottle and be brought in by the parent/guardian.
  5. Students are not allowed to bring in their own medication.

The Bell Heron 6,7,8th Grade Bands are selling a variety of food items to raise money for instrument supplies for the year. We are trying to raise $3000. Anderson Crowned Queen! 2017 Fall Homecoming Court

Bell-Herron After School Tutoring tutoring

Bell-Herron offers after school tutoring to provide all students with the opportunity to obtain extra assistance in specific areas of academic need. The Book Fair is Here Book Fair

The Carrollton Elementary Book Fair will start on November 6th and end on November 11th. Monday through Thursday it will be open from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. On Friday, it will be open from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Then, finally, on Saturday, the book fair will open at 9:00 A.M. and will be over after 2:00 P.M. All purchases benefit the school.

6th Annual “Hoops for Hope” Game Hoops for Hope

On February 2, 2018, the Carrollton High School Boys’ Basketball teams will participate in the 6th annual “Hoops for Hope” basketball game to help benefit Relay for Life. This event was started in memory of the late Shelli Burchfield-DeSimone, who lost her battle to breast cancer in 2011. We’re going to pack the stands with pink as the Carrollton Warriors take on the West branch Warriors. We hope to raise money for cancer research as well as awareness! You can help by being a sponsor and donating. The donations will be used for pink items for the boys to wear during the game, and to get tees for the games to sell. All profit will be donated to Relay for Life. We really would appreciate anything, and all donations will be recognized at the game by announcement and a poster will be made to hang at the event. Congratulations to the JV bowling teams who won the East Canton tournament on Saturday, January 27th.

Kindergarten Registration and Screening

Kindergarten Registration will be from March 5th through March 9th from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at your home school. If you have a child that will be 5 years old by August 1st, 2018, you can register them at the school they will be attending. Parents or guardians must pick up paperwork and return to schedule registration appointment. If not all paperwork is filled out, no appointment will be made. At time of appointment, you must bring their birth certificate, immunization record, proof of residence, and custody papers. Once they are registered, the secretary will schedule them for the screening which will be held on April 10th and 11th at Our Lady of Mercy Hall.

Carroll Electric Offers a Great Opportunity for Upperclassmen Carroll Electric

Carroll Electric is pleased to offer high school sophomores and juniors, whose parents are co-op members, the opportunity to compete for an all-expenses-paid, week-long trip to Washington, D.C., where they will learn about the principles and practices of the American Democratic System and Rural Electric Cooperatives. The annual contest, called the Rural Youth Tour, is sponsored by Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives and Carroll Electric. The tour is scheduled for June 8th to June 14th, 2018. Applications and additional information is available on Carroll Electric's website @ http://cepower.coop/content/youth-tour.

Please note: sophomores and juniors must meet eligibility requirements to compete for this free trip. The deadline to enter is February 1, 2018.

If selected to represent Carroll Electric, Youth Tour participants will be become eligible to represent the state of Ohio on the Youth Leadership Council. In addition, Youth Tour participants will have the opportunity to apply for a $10,000 college scholarship just for attending. Cheer Team Places 1st Cheer Team

On Sunday, February 18th, Carrollton High School's Competition Cheer Team placed 1st in their division at the North East Ohio Cheer Championships at Warren G Harding High School. We were the 2nd highest scoring team out of all teams present. The squad also received a special award for "Outstanding Cheer." 

Domer Music Educator of Year Nominee Domer

Carrollton High School vocal music director Mrs. Mindy Domer was named as a finalist for the Canton Symphony Orchestra’s 2018 Music Educator of the Year Award.  The annual event seeks to promote a greater understanding of and appreciation for music education as well as to honor those individuals who are making a real difference in our community through their dedication to music education.  A panel of judges representing the orchestra and community selected the finalists.

Grad Picks Up The Beat grad beat

The Tiffin University a cappella vocal choir "Up in the Air” performed for CHS students and staff in March.  Brenna Campbell, class of 2017, is a member of the contemporary, high-energy music group. Up in the Air’s complex arrangements have entertained audiences around the Midwest and the world since 1995.

Bell-Herron Collects For Hurricane Relief!

Bell-Herron Middle School students will be participating in a collection of items needed for folks affected by the recent hurricanes. Items will be collected until Friday, September 29th. Please bring or send anything you wish to donate to the school. The attached list is what we can take. Bids For Maintenance Garage Has Been Postponed

The maintenance garage has been postponed until further notice.

Dance and Euchre Tournament Fundraiser

The Carrollton FFA and Alumni Association, located at the FFA Camp Muskingum Discovery Center, will be hosting a dance and euchre tournament fundraiser on February 17 at 7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. for Akron Children's and the FFA Club. There will be square dancing and line dancing with caller Dan Kirk. It will be $5.00 a person, and each euchre tournament will be $10.00 per person. 50% of the money will go back into cash prizes. They will also be sponsoring a cake walk and having a 50/50 raffle to help support Akron Children's Hospital and the Carrollton FFA. 

Farm Bureau Scholarship

The Carroll County Farm Bureau Scholarship Application is available in the Guidance Office. The student must be Carroll County resident and a member of Carroll County Farm Bureau or a parent has been a member for at least 2 consecutive years. The deadline to apply is April 16.

Back to School

The 2018-2019 school year will begin with a "Meet the Teacher" Day on August 7th, with all staff members present. All student's first day of school will be August 20th, 2018. 

The Carrollton Warrior Marching Band Extravaganza, Coming To You Soon

The CHS Band Extravaganza will be on September 30th at 6:30 P.M. It will be held at the community field. Tickets are $5.00 for adults, and children under five years old are free.

The Extravaganza will include bands from Alliance, Claymont, Conotton Valley, Field, Manchester, Malvern, Tusky Valley, and of course, Carrollton.
