Wrestling Team Completes Week Long Camp 2017 Wrestling Camp

The high school wrestling team just completed another successful week long wrestling camp.  The team traveled south near Urbana to join in with other teams from across Ohio to train and practice.

Indoor Track Has Huge Success! Indoor Track State Placers

This Saturday the Warriors shined bright at the Indoor State Championships at the University of Akron. The day started off with indoor school records in the girls and boys 4x8 as the girls shaved 20 seconds off last year's time and finished 3rd in 9:42 behind the efforts of Micah Donley, Grace Bartlow, Allison Davis and Maddie Dunlap. The race of the day was next as Cole Lovett brought the Warriors from 6 seconds back in the last leg to WIN the 4x8 State Championship. The team of Dan Lampe, Quinton Huggett, Preston Berry, and Cole ran 806.3 and also qualified to the New Balance Indoor National Championship with their time. All 8 Warrior relay athletes ran their fastest times of their lives on an indoor track on the day it mattered the most!

Alivia Bentley also smashed her own school record and popped a 43-3 throw that earned her a state runner up placing, as did Maddie Dunlap's 3200 performance of 10:59. Maddie was also runner up in the event last year. Micah notched another 3rd place All Ohio honor in the 400 as well. 

Earning valuable state meet experience were Kody Schandel, Bri Burkhart, Cindy Lewis, Jillian Rinkes, Chase Flanagan, Ryan Shepherd and Calob Dalton. 

Six Wrestlers Advance To State Tournament State Wrestling Qualifiers

Congratulations to Ben Pasiuk, Justin Shaw, Adam Shaw, Brandon Daniels, Brenton Miller and Aidan Pasiuk who qualified for the individual state wrestling tournament.  The state tournament begins March 9th at 3pm in Columbus, Ohio at the Schottenstein Center.

Special Board Meeting

The President of the Carrollton Exempted Village School District has called a Special Meeting of the Board of Education for Thursday, February 23, 2017, at 6:00 p.m., in the POWER Training Center, at 209 Scio Road SW, Carrollton.

State Dual Wrestling Tournament is This Sunday, February 12th OHSAA

The Carrollton Warriors wrestling team received the number three seed in the Division II OHSAA State Team Duals tournament. The Warriors will wrestle number six, Ashland, at 1:15 P.M. on February 12 at St. John's Arena on mat three. The winner of the match will wrestle either number seven, Peninsula Woodridge, or number two, Wauseon, in the state semifinals at 3:30 P.M. on mat four. The championship round is scheduled for 7:30 P.M. on mat two. St. Paris Graham is the number one seed in the tournament.

Bell-Herron Middle School Featured on WTOV9

On Saturday, January 28, 44 schools came to Carrollton to compete at this year’s robotics competition. The two advisors, and teachers here at Carrollton, Vonda Barnhart and Stephanie Glasier, have been working for the last 4 to 6 months to put this year’s competition together. The kids and schools attending had a fierce desire to build and compete for the chance to go to state. Make Someone’s Day; Toss a Teddy Teddy Bear

In the spirit of giving, Carrollton High School will be collecting new teddy bears/stuffed animals, which will be donated to Akron Children’s Hospital after the Teddy Bear Toss prior to the Boys’ Varsity Basketball game this Saturday, December 17th.

Senior Cole Lovett signed his letter of intent to run for Youngstown State November 9, 2016. He will be participating in indoor and outdoor track along with cross country when he joins YSU in the fall of 2017.

Cross Country Has Two State Placers! CCState

Congratulations to Senior Cole Lovett for placing third overall at state, and congratulations to Senior Maddie Dunlap for placing eighth overall as well. Both, Maddie and Cole, made All-Ohio for their efforts. This was Maddie’s 15th time receiving an All-Ohio honor. The girls cross team placed eleventh, which is the best in school history.

Cross Country State Qualifiers Cross Country State Bound

Carrollton Girls’ Cross Country ran at Regionals this past Saturday morning and qualified for State. This is their third time qualifying in the last four years. Senior Cole Lovett also qualified for his third straight state meet as well.

One Million Sheets of Paper on the Line

Stark Federal Credit Union has decided to give local schools one million sheets of paper. In order for Carrollton to win paper, you must vote for you favorite local K-12 school in the week of September 10 through the 17. Reading Under the Lights Has Been Rescheduled for October 6th!

On Thursday, October 6th, please join the first ever “RIF- A Night Under the Lights” from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Senior Class Picture Will Be Taken!

On Thursday, November 3rd, the senior class picture will be taken in the high school gymnasium at 7:00 A.M. There will be a bus held at the school for BCC students until after the picture is taken. All seniors need to be in the gym by 6:55 A.M. and wear a black shirt.

“A Battle That is Bigger Than Any Rivalry”: Hoops for Hope Hoops for Hope

This year’s Hoops for Hope (Boys Varsity basketball) game will be held on January 27 in the Carrollton High School Gym. This is our fifth annual Hoops for Hope basketball game to benefit the Relay for Life. This event was started in memory of Shelli Burchfield-Desimone, who lost her battle to breast cancer in 2001. We will pack the stands with pink as the fans watch the Carrollton Warriors take on the West Branch Warriors. The hope is to, not only raise money for cancer research, but to also raise awareness. Shirts are $10.00, and they are available 5th and 6th period. They will also be sold at the game.

 

CHS Speech and Debate OHSSL State Finals Qualifying Competitor's CHS Speech and Debate OHSSL State Finals Qualifying Competitor's

Six CHS Students qualified to the 2017 OHSSL State Finals to represent Carrollton High School and the Canton District.  Celia Meek, the sophomore daughter of Shane and Anitra Meek, qualified in Dramatic Interpretation.  Emma Lane, the sophomore daughter of Nate and Janice Lane, qualified in Program Oral Interpretation.  Grace Barnhart, freshman daughter of Vonda Barnhart, Jared DeGarmo, sophomore son of Rebecca Everhart, Brooke Geis, sophomore daughter of Jason and CJ Geis, and Desarae Gorney, junior daughter of Wayne and Teresa Gorney, all qualified to compete in Congressional Debate.  Earning a place as second alternates to the OHSSL State Finals were sophomores Ashlee Copeland and Sam Soisson in Duo Interpretation.  The students will be accompanied by coaches Ron and Alzana Nuzzolillo and coach Brad Eick at Olmsted Falls High School in March.  

CHS continues to rank in the top 10% nationally while competing in the Eastern Ohio National Speech and Debate Association.  Eastern Ohio ranks 8th in the nation as a district.  CHS also has four students ranked in the top 50 in their category as students across the state prepare to attend the OHSSL State Finals: Isaiah Meek, Celia Meek, Brooke Geis, and Grace Barnhart.

Kindergarten Registration and Screening

Kindergarten registration will take place during the month of March for all children who will be 5 years of age by August 1, 2017. Parents or guardians may stop in to their home schools to register their kindergarten student between the hours of 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. At that time, a packet of forms and information will be handed out. It is not necessary to bring your child to registration.

News and Notes Regarding 2017 Prom 2017 Prom Court

The Prom will be held in the Bell-Herron Gymnasium this year.  Promenade will be from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and the school street will shutdown at 5:15 P.M. The student parking lot across from the high school will be closed to the public and used only for Prom student parking. The public is welcome to view Prom decorations in the gym until 5:30 P.M. Parents of the court members are welcome in to Prom for crowning at 7:15 P.M. Parents must leave before dinner is served at 7:30 P.M. Also, students attending Prom should know that once they leave Bell-Herron Gymnasium that they will not be readmitted to the Prom.

Build, Program, Compete: Robotics Camp Robotics

This is a day camp, and it will be held May 31, June 1, and June 2 from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. daily.  Snacks and lunches are provided as well as a t-shirt.  Students will learn to build, program, and compete in a VEX robotics competition by the end of the 3 day camp. We hope to build our robotics teams in our district and camp is a great way to decide if it is something for you!

Carrollton High School Commencement

This year’s senior commencement will be in the Bell-Herron Gymnasium on Friday, May 26 at 7:00 P.M. Each student will be given six tickets for close friends and families to attend. Anyone who does not have a ticket may watch the ceremony on the big screen in the overflow gym located in the High School Gym. We ask that all persons attending the Commencement Exercises recognize the importance of the occasion by observing these requests:

Please, no clapping, whistling cheering, and applauding an individual graduate during the awarding of diplomas. Please refrain until everyone has received their awards and then everyone will be asked to applaud.

To parents and friends who would like to take pictures please refrain from entering the area set aside for the Commencement Exercises.

Also, Lifetouch will be taking pictures of your graduate during the commencement ceremonies. Pictures will be available online. In order to find them, go to lifetouchevents.com to order. The password is: carrolltonhs17. The pictures will be available for 90 days after the event.

Back To School Open House

Carrollton will host, "All Girls STEM Day."

Carrollton Schools, in conjunction with IST and REC Foundation and in support of the United Nations International Day of the Girl, will offer an All Girls STEM Day October 29, 2016.  This event is designed to encourage young girls to consider possible careers in science, technology, engineering and math by not only providing engaging activities, but also by giving them the opportunity to listen to and interact with women who are leaders and role models in these fields.  

This event is for 3rd - 12th grade girls.

Girls will experience four hands-on workshops:

VEX Robotics- Build and Program a Robot to do what you tell it to do!

Girls Who Code- Learn about the Core4 computer science concepts that form the basis for all computer programming languages and how they can be combined to build a game, make music or create digital art!

Girl Scouts STEM Activities:  Engineering Challenges and Hands-On Science Experiments!

MIT App Inventor- Let’s create an app!  You will create your own version of Snapchat!

2016 Fall Homecoming Week

Fall is quickly approaching and that means the return of many of your favorite things. Cool weather, pumpkins, and for Carrollton football fans everywhere, the CHS Homecoming Week. Homecoming week is kicked off on Wednesday, September 21st at 6:30 p.m. with the Homecoming Parade. The lineup for the parade will be at 6:00 p.m. The Homecoming Parade will include many different clubs and sports who are all competing for the prestigious “Principal’s Award” for the most creative and best float. Warrior fans also get the first look at the lovely 2016 Homecoming Court, as well as, watch the Pride of Carroll County, the CHS Marching Band, play their latest songs. Don’t miss this enjoyable event and support the Warriors!

College Financial Aide Information College Financial Aid

A College Financial Aide Information Session will be held on October 11th at 6:30p.m. in the Carrollton High School cafeteria.  Financial Aid Counselor, Jason Maurer, will discuss the basics of the FAFSA, including new, earlier deadlines.  This will be a general overview of the FAFSA process as well as the different aid and loan programs available to students and parents.  Seniors thinking about college should attend with parents.

Carrollton’s Robotics Team Earns a World of Success RoboWarriors

CHS Winter Homecoming & Court Winter Homecoming Spirit Week

The Winter Homecoming dance will take place on Saturday, January 21 from 8:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. in the high school gymnasium. This year's theme is “This Town.” Tickets are $5.00 a person, and they will be sold from Tuesday, January 17 to Friday, January 20, from 6:45 A.M. to 7:25 A.M. in the gym lobby. If you are bringing a date from another school, you will need to fill out a form from the office and have it signed before you buy your tickets. If you have late start, you can purchase your tickets from Mrs. Hill during second period. Pictures at homecoming will start at 7:00 P.M., before the dance. Also, the homecoming game will take place on Friday, January 20, where the king and queen will be crowned.

Congratulations to Quinton Huggett who has decided to further his education and running career at Indiana Wesleyan University. 

CHS Girls’ and Boys’ Bowlers; Making Their Way to the Top Bowling Champs

The CHS Girls’ Bowling Team were the Eastern Buckeye Conference Champions for the second year. They also placed second at Sectionals, and they qualified for Districts, which will be Sunday, February 26.

The CHS Boys’ Bowling Team were also the Eastern Buckeye Conference Champions for the fifth year. They placed fifth at Sectionals, and they qualified for Districts, which will be Friday, February 24.

Honors Band and Choir Honors Band and Choir

Twenty Bell Herron Middle School Band and Choir students will be participating at the East Central Ohio ESC Honors Band and Choir Day on March 22, 2017. The ESC Honors Band and Choirs are made up of students displaying above average abilities in music. Participating schools include Claymont, Carrollton, Dover, Garaway, Conotton Valley, Newcomerstown, Indian Valley, Tusky Valley and New Philadelphia. The students will spend the day in rehearsing and will perform a concert that evening. Mr. Dickerhoof will be one of the guest conductors of the 70 piece Honors Band.

Participating Band students are Daisy Dawson Alto Sax, Alex Johnson Trombone, Kole White Euphonium, Kaylee Leggett Clarinet, Chandra Brammer Flute, Alex Lowery Trumpet, Tara Oberlin Clarinet, Erin Shockey French Horn, Rebecca Stoneman Bass Clarinet, Iva Postlethwait Alto Saxophone, Elijah Lutton Percussion, Jocelyn Sellers Trumpet, Trevor Zinda Trombone and Isabella Meek Percussion. Participating choir students are Haven Kirchbaum, Olivia Milhoan, Lucy Pridemore, David Hanson, Reighly Newbold, and Cailyn Bright.

The concert will be held on March 22, 2017 7:00 pm at the Performing Arts Center at Kent State Tuscarawas. Admission is $2.00 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the PAC Box Office or by calling the PAC 330-308-6400.

The Bell Herron Choir is under the direction of Mr. Peter Woodruff and the band under the direction of Mr. David Dickerhoof.

New Shot Requirements and Immunization Clinic

New Shot Requirements for Students Entering 7th and 12h Grade

Prior to entry to 7th grade, all students are required to have the Tdap and Meningococcal immunization documentation on file with the school, and prior to entry to 12th grad, a second dose of Meningococcal vaccine is required. If the first dose was administered on or after the 16th birthday, a second dose is not required. Immunization records must be turned into the school office. For full information, click here.


Immunization Clinic

The Carroll County Health Department is providing an immunization clinic on Monday, April 3rd, 2017 in the Bell-Herron Auditorium from 4:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. You must bring your students’ (6th or 11th grade) immunization record and insurance information, or you can pay $21.00 per shot. If you cannot attend, you can set up an appointment at the Health Department, or your doctor’s office. Rite Aid is also an option, but they require a prescription from your doctor, if your child is age 13 or younger.  Click here.

Carrollton Exempted Village School District

Shook Touchstone Construction will be leading the construction management of the upcoming Carrollton Exempted Village School District’s new 6-12 High School and Middle School building project as part of the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) school program. The project will be located at 205 Scio Road Carrollton, Ohio 44615. The building design and components will adhere to the OFCC design manual and USGBC compliance to achieve LEED Silver Certification.

CHS Announces Students of the Month May's Seniors of the Month

Congratulations to Mia Moore and Mason Pasiuk for being named May's Seniors of the Month.

Congratulation Carrollton Soap Box Derby Club Soap Box Derby

The Soap Box Derby Club had a very successful day at the GRC derby race in Akron last Saturday. Thirty-eight 4th through 7th grade students were involved. They brought 15 cars to the competition; which is the second most in the entire competition (a group from Rochester, New York brought 22 cars).

Nate Stoffer, 4th grade, won 3rd place in the stock division out of 46 cars. Jacob Serguek, 6th grade, placed in the top 16 in the superstock division out of over 100 cars. Cauy and Chandra Brammer, 7th grade, deserve special recognition for their leadership skills and incredible work ethic throughout the club and on race day.

Students who were not race driver participated in the pit crew and had to perform wheel swaps and basic car maintenance between heats. The pit crew got many compliments from the Derby Downs staff and other teams thanks to their competence, helpfulness, and good sportsmanship which was brought along with the whole process of building and racing cars.

Special Board Meeting

The President of the Carrollton Exempted Village School District Board of Education has called a Special Board Meeting for Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 9:00 AM in the CEVSD Board of Education Office, at 207 Scio Road SW, Carrollton. The reason for this special meeting is to approve the Ohio School Facilities Commission Classroom Facilities Assistance Program, Project Agreement for Segment One, pursuant to the Ohio Revised Code Section 3318.08.

Carrollton Band Hosts the Annual Band Extravaganza band

The Carrollton High School Band is hosting a show featuring other marching bands from Mount Union, Malvern, East Canton, Minerva, Sandy Valley, Claymont, and of course,the Carrollton Warrior Marching Band. It will be held on October 1 at 6:30 P.M. at the Community Field (football stadium) on Route 332. The ticket price is $5.00. Free admission to children five or under.

Six 5th grade students were recently awarded 2nd place in the OOGEEP National Energy Awareness Month Video Contest. Students created a video showing how petroleum is used in our daily lives.  They plan to spend their winnings by taking a trip to Oil City, PA  The first oil well drilled in the US.

The Bell Herron honors band and choir students participated in the East Central Ohio ESC Honors Band & Choir Day yesterday at Kent Tusc. The students rehearsed from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. After preparation, they performed a concert last night at 7:00 P.M. at the Performing Arts Center. Participating schools were Carrollton, Claymont, Conotton Valley, Dover, Garaway, Indian Valley, Newcomerstown, New Philadelphia and Tusky Valley.

Cross Country Team Proves Their Name at NBC MVP CrossCountry2016

Saturday, October 15, Carrollton’s Cross Team ran at NBC. Both teams, girls and boys, were runner-ups to Louisville. There, Senior Maddie Dunlap and Senior Cole Lovett were both named NBC MVPs. Dunlap and Lovett also both set records that morning. Maddie is the first athlete to ever win all 6 years, from grades 7-12. Quinton Huggett and Hailey Wells were awarded First Team NBC runners. Daniel Lampe, Micah Donley, and Cindy Lewis were all Second Team NBC runners. Also, Alex Carrothers, Jon Russell, Grace Bartlow, and Jennie Stine all received NBC’s Honorable Mention.

Cross Country Team Win Again! CrossCountry

Congratulations to the boys cross country team, winning district champs, and congratulations to the girls cross country team, being district runner ups. Also, congratulations to Senior Cole Lovett being an individual champion, winning by 41 seconds.

Wrestlers Win Third Straight Conference Title! Wrestlers Win Third Straight Title!

After beating Minerva 40-33 the wrestling team won its third straight NBC conference title on February 16th.  The varsity squad will now enter into the individual state tournament.  This portion of the season can get expensive, so the team is asking for financial help.  Click here to see their gofundme.com page.

Seniors Take Over Times Square! Seniors at Times Square

Sixty Seniors are visiting New York City.  They left via bus on Thursday morning and will return on Saturday, April 22nd. During their time there, they will be traveling the wonders of the city and viewing the very well known attraction spots such as Chinatown and Times Square.

Warrior Camp is Coming Soon!

When school is out, camp is in! This summer, current students of Carrollton Exempted Village School District, grades K-5, will be invited to a one week camp to brush up on academics and get back into the routine before the start of the 2017-2018 school year. It will be from July 31 to August 4, from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. every day that week. It will be in the Carrollton High School, and not to mention, it’s free!

POWER Center Plant Sale Plant Sale

The FFA is holding a plant sale on Mother’s Day weekend; Friday, May 12th from 10a.m.-6p.m. and Saturday, May 13th from 10a.m.- 2p.m. They are offering perennials and annuals. All profits go towards funding student projects. The plants include: Hanging Baskets, Geraniums, Coleus, Gaillardia, Succulents, Lupine, Columbine, Begonias, Yellow Squash, Bell Peppers, Marigolds, Zinnias, and Impatiens.

Help Build Hope in May Lottery Basket Raffle

Carrollton Bell-Herron Middle School students are doing a service project called Help Build Hope in May. They will be framing a house for Habitat for Humanity. To help with the cost of the materials, the Bell-Herron PTO has sponsored a lottery basket. There are $100.00 worth of scratch off lottery tickets in the basket. If you would like to purchase a ticket, they are $1.00 for one ticket or $5.00 for six tickets. They will be sold in the Bell-Herron office and are available to the public. The sale is over on March 20, and this will be the day of the drawing as well. Ticket purchaser must be at least 18 years of age.

Bell-Herron Middle Scholastic Book Fair Book Fair

Bell-Herron PTO is sponsoring a Scholastic Book Fair March 28th -30th. Students will be able to purchase books, posters, and some other fun stuff from the fair from 7:30am to 2:00pm. PTO staff will assist students in finding the best book for them. We have set a goal of $2,500 in sales. You can also purchase books using our online fair at http://www.scholastic.com/bf/bellherronmiddleschool. We hope you take advantage of this opportunity to get some summer reading for your child.

Breakfast is Now Free!

Carrollton School’s Nutrition Services will be offering Universal Free Breakfast, beginning May 1st, 2017. Each student, grade K-12, in the district will be able to receive a no-cost breakfast at all of our schools.

Augusta Elementary PTO Events Little Caesar's Pizza

Augusta students are currently selling Little Caesar Pizza Kits. Sales will run from February 1 to February 15. The delivery date is March 7. This fundraiser provides funds for school wide field trips, Outback Ray, and many other fun events offered to the students.

Aidan Pasiuk is State Champ, Ben is Runner-up and Shaw Brothers Place 5th! State Placers

Congratulations to Aidan Pasiuk who became Carrollton's first state wrestling champion. Aidan won the 182lb weight class at the state tournament, which was held in Columbus, Ohio. Younger brother, Ben Pasiuk, was the runner-up in the 132lb weight class. Justin (138lb) and Adam Shaw (145lb) both wrestled in the tournament and placed 5th. Also wreslting in the state tournament were Brandon Daniels (152lb) and Brenton Miller (170lb). All six wrestlers scored enough points to place the team in 5th.

The French Soirée French Soiree

The Carrollton High School will yet be, yet again, hosting the French Soirée on Saturday, May 13. The theme this year will be “Mardi Gras.” It will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the High School Gymnasium. Tickets are $5.00 per person. Also, when you pay $5.00, you receive $5.00 in “Soirée Bucks.”
