Congratulation Carrollton Soap Box Derby Club Soap Box Derby

The Soap Box Derby Club had a very successful day at the GRC derby race in Akron last Saturday. Thirty-eight 4th through 7th grade students were involved. They brought 15 cars to the competition; which is the second most in the entire competition (a group from Rochester, New York brought 22 cars).

Nate Stoffer, 4th grade, won 3rd place in the stock division out of 46 cars. Jacob Serguek, 6th grade, placed in the top 16 in the superstock division out of over 100 cars. Cauy and Chandra Brammer, 7th grade, deserve special recognition for their leadership skills and incredible work ethic throughout the club and on race day.

Students who were not race driver participated in the pit crew and had to perform wheel swaps and basic car maintenance between heats. The pit crew got many compliments from the Derby Downs staff and other teams thanks to their competence, helpfulness, and good sportsmanship which was brought along with the whole process of building and racing cars.
